Something stopped working. A room is dead. The kitchen lights blink when the microwave runs. A switch is warm. The GFCI in the bath will not reset. That is troubleshooting — not a remodel, not a charger. A licensed electrician traces it and fixes the fault instead of swapping parts until it goes quiet.

Older Northbrook wiring
1950s–70s houses here sometimes still have aluminum branch circuits, two-wire receptacles, and panels that were never meant for today’s load. We do not scare you into a whole-house rewire if a dedicated circuit and a few AFCI breakers are the right work. We also do not leave aluminum connections that should be pigtailled.
Code corrections
Unfinished work from a previous owner. A junction buried in a wall. A dryer on an undersized cord. Outdoor lighting on an indoor box. We correct what we find when it is unsafe, and we tell you what can wait.
When it becomes a panel or a remodel
If the repair is really a full service upgrade, we send you to the panel page and price that job. If opening the wall is really a kitchen, we say so. Repairs stay repairs until they are not.
